The all-embracing functionality of the d&b Amplifiers can be accessed via the d&b Remote network, through either Ethernet or CAN-Bus, providing all the power to effectively control. All d&b amplifiers incorporate sophisticated Digital Signal Processing capabilities for comprehensive loudspeaker management, switchable filter functions, remote capabilities and user-definable controls. The d&b amplifiers are designed specifically to power d&b loudspeakers and are the beating heart of all d&b systems. The series includes models: dual channel D6 and D12, 10D, 30D, D20 and D80. All d&b amplifiers feature analog and AES / EBU digital inputs
for each channel, not to mention System check, Input and Load monitoring, overvoltage protection, temperature and signal controlled cooling and switch mode power supplies. The 10D and 30D are dedicated to installation systems and as such, perfectly fulfil the needs of any permanent sound reinforcement requirement. Whether discreetly integrating inside a venue or operating in a rider driven performance space, these devices provide installation specific functionalities, including enhanced system status monitoring features and GPIOs for extended input routing capabilities. The 10D, 30D, D6, D20 and D80 also incorporate active Power Factor Correction, which maintains a stable output when used with weak or unstable mains supplies. All in all, the amplifiers do more than drive d&b loudspeakers; they realize the full potential of the d&b system approach. The amplifier heritage products include models D12, E-PAC, P1200A, A1 which were launched between 1993 and 1997.

D20 amplifier

The 2 RU four channel D20 amplifier is ideally suited to mobile and installation applications which require low to medium Sound Pressure Level (SPL) capabilities. The D20 features the same Digital Signal Processing (DSP) platform as the latest generation of d&b amplifiers, containing configurations for all d&b loudspeakers except the J-Series and the M2 monitor, plus a linear mode.

The signal delay capability enables user definable settings of up to 10 s (= 3440 m/11286 ft), which can be applied independently to each channel. The same applies to the two 16-band equalizers, providing optional parametric, asymmetric, shelving or notch filtering.

The D20 incorporates a colour TFT touchscreen, offering quick access to the menu structure, while the rotary encoder can be used for fine adjustment. The front panel and the integrated touchscreen are tilted up for easy operation when the amplifier is below eye level.

The equal ratio of signal input to amplifier output channels increases application flexibility particularly for monitor, frontfill or effect channel use. The LoadMatch function integrated within the D20 amplifier electrically compensates for the properties of loudspeaker cable used.

The D20 incorporates Class D amplifiers utilizing a power supply with active Power Factor Correction (PFC) suitable for mains voltages 100 V - 240 V, 50 - 60 Hz and maintains a stable output when used with weak or unstable mains supplies. An NL8 provides all outputs on a single connector for loudspeaker multicores. Dual channel mode is driven through four individual NL4 connectors, while Mix TOP/SUB and 2-Way Active mode output configurations for applicable d&b loudspeakers are available via two central NL4 connectors. etherCON and RJ 45 connectors enable access to the d&b Remote network through OCA/AES70 via Ethernet and through CAN-Bus respectively.

D80 amplifier

The 2 RU four channel D80 amplifier is a high power density amplifier, ideally suited for use in both mobile and installation environments. It contains configurations for all d&b loudspeakers and a linear mode. The signal delay capability enables user definable settings of up to 10 s (= 3440 m/11286 ft) to be applied independently to each channel. The same applies to the two 16-band equalizers, providing optional parametric, asymmetric, shelving or notch filtering.

This results in an increased accuracy of audio reproduction over a bandwidth of up to 20 kHz, preserving the tonal balance when cable lengths of up to 70 m (230 ft) are used. The D80 incorporates Class D amplifiers utilizing a power supply with active Power Factor Correction (PFC) suitable for mains voltages 100 V/120 V/200 V/230 V, 50 - 60 Hz and maintains a stable output when used with weak or unstable mains supplies. An NL8 provides all outputs on a single connector, while individual outputs are optionally NL4 or EP5 connectors. RJ 45 and etherCON connectors enable access to the d&b Remote network via CAN-Bus and OCA/AES70 via Ethernet respectively.

10D amplifier

The 2 RU, four channel 10D amplifier is designed for permanent integration with applications that require lower Sound Pressure Level (SPL) capabilities. This device contains extended input management functionalities with separate Input Gain control for each input channel, General Purpose Inputs/Outputs (GPIO) and a General Fault connector. Enhanced system status monitoring functions such as Input and Load monitoring ensure suitability in an emergency situation.

The 10D shares the same Digital Signal Processing platform as the latest generation of four channel d&b amplifiers, providing configurations for smaller d&b loudspeakers as well as a linear mode. For larger applications comprising the J-Series, V-Series, B1-SUB, B2-SUB, the M2 monitor and systems which require a higher SPL output, the 30D installation specific amplifier is required.

The DSP integrated within the 10D incorporates comprehensive loudspeaker management, switchable filtering functions as well as user definable equalization and delay capabilities. This includes two 16-band equalizers, providing optional parametric, asymmetric, shelving or notch filtering and up to 10 s (= 3440 m/11286 ft) signal delay, all of which can be applied independently to each channel.

The 10D is accessible via the d&b Remote network, either via Ethernet using the Open Control Architecture protocol (OCA) or CAN-Bus using RJ45 connectors. The 10D is controlled using the integrated web interface, which enables access via a browser, or using the d&b R1 Remote control software. The device itself contains LEDs to display power, input, data and mute status.

The 2 RU two channel lightweight D6 amplifier delivers medium power into low impedance loads between 4 and 16 ohms and is ideally suited for use in both mobile and installation environments.

The D6 contains configurations for d&b loudspeakers and a linear mode; exceptions are 2-Way Active, V-Series and B2-SUB. The signal delay capability enables user definable settings of up to 340 msec (=100 m/328.1 ft) to be applied independently to each channel. The same applies to the 4-band parametric equalizer, providing optional boost/cut or notch filtering. The D6 incorporates a digital rotary encoder and a LCD display to configure the amplifier.

The D6 incorporates Class D amplifiers utilizing a switch mode power supply with active Power Factor Correction (PFC), suitable for mains voltages 100 V/120 V/200 V/ 230 V, 50 - 60 Hz and maintains a stable and increased output when used with weak or unstable mains supplies. It is supplied with two NL4 loudspeaker output connectors. RJ 45 connectors enable access to the Remote network via CAN-Bus. d&b System check verifies that the system performs within a predefined condition, whilst d&b Load monitoring enables an automatic and continuous impedance monitoring. Both can determine the status of an LF or HF driver in systems with multiple elements, even if these are crossed over passively.

D12 amplifier

The 3 RU two channel D12 amplifier delivers medium to high power into low impedance loads between 4 and 16 ohms and is ideally suited for use in both mobile and installation environments. The D12 contains setups for all d&b loudspeakers and a linear mode. The signal delay capability enables user definable settings of up to 340 msec (=100 m/328.1 ft) to be applied independently to each channel. The same applies to the 4-band parametric equalizer, providing optional boost/cut or notch filtering. The D12 incorporates a digital rotary encoder and a LCD display to configure the amplifier.

The D12 utilizes an autosensing switch mode power supply for mains voltages 120 V/230 V, 50 - 60 Hz (optional 100/200V). The D12 amplifier incorporates d&b SenseDrive for accurate control of LF drivers in d&b loudspeakers driven in 2-Way Active mode or in actively driven d&b subwoofers. When the D12 is fitted with EP5 connectors and appropriate 5 wire cabling, d&b SenseDrive can be used, resulting in an extremely precise bass performance even at high levels. NL4 and NL8 connector options are also available. RJ 45 connectors enable access to the Remote network via CAN-Bus. d&b System check verifies that the system performs within a predefined condition, whilst d&b Load monitoring enables an automatic and continuous impedance monitoring. Both can determine the status of an LF or HF driver in systems with multiple elements, even if these are crossed over passively.

E-PAC power amplifier controller

The small format single channel DSP based E-PAC power amplifier controller represents a cost effective alternative to the D12 amplifier for single loudspeaker configurations and multichannel applications. The E-PAC provides set-ups for all current d&b loudspeakers (except for active systems, B1 and B2 subwoofers) and a linear mode that can be selected for MAX/MAX12 or other passive loudspeakers. The third generation of the E-PAC offers complete signal processing and all necessary protection circuits. d&b Load monitoring can provide both LF and HF driver status information within systems containing multiple drivers, even if these drivers are passively crossed over, a signal generator for sine or pink noise, all controls and indicators, a 4-band parametric equaliser, a delay function, Remote and Service interfaces providing remote control and monitoring and service upgrade functions. All these functions and parameters can be easily accessed and handled via the LCD in conjunction with a digital rotary encoder. The E-PAC has a switch mode power supply enabling use without any adjustments for the supply voltage.

P1200A Mainframe

The P1200A mainframe is housed in a 3 rack unit high, 19" rack mount enclosure. The mainframe incorporates power supplies for the controllers and mainframe electronics, two power amplifiers, softstart, monitoring and protection circuits with the associated indicators and all connectors. All functions can be remotely interrogated and altered via the d&b Remote Interface Bridge (RIB). Used with d&b C or E-Series loudspeakers, the mainframe can be fitted with either one loudspeaker controller module plus the mono option, or two loudspeaker controller modules. The two channel power amplifier in the P1200A mainframe is a low feedback, low distortion design, fully protected from damage by overheating or connection to faulty or inappropriate loads, and it exhibits good stability into reactive loads along with excellent handling of fast rise-time signals and signal overload conditions. The P1200A is also available as a dual voltage (115 V / 230 V) autosensing version.

A1 Mainframe

The A1 mainframe is housed in a 3 rack unit high, 19" rack mount enclosure. The A1 incorporates two power amplifiers (1200 W and 400 W), softstart power supplies, monitoring and protection circuits with the associated display elements and all connectors. All functions can be remotely interrogated and altered via the d&b Remote Interface Bridge (RIB). The mainframe accepts a single exchangeable controller module which determines both the type and number of loudspeakers which can be driven. d&b SenseDrive electronics maintain maximum damping factor with complex loads, and improves low frequency transient performance when using long speaker cables. The amplifier is comprehensively protected against overheating, connection to inappropriate or faulty loads, has a high peak output current capability and a low feedback internal gain structure. Speaker ID protects wrongly connected speakers from possible damage. The A1 is also available as a dual voltage (115 V / 230 V) autosensing version.
