Start with the room, not the screen
Before looking at products, look at the venue.
A dark indoor pub, bar or function room has very different needs to a bright beer garden or outdoor fan zone. A projector might be perfect in one space and completely wrong in another. An LED screen might look incredible outside, but be unnecessary in a smaller indoor room where a strong projector would do the job properly.
This is where a lot of venues go wrong. They start with the idea of a “big screen” before thinking about light levels, viewing angles, sound, available space and how many people need to see the match clearly.
When a projector makes sense
A projector can still be a very strong option for venues showing football indoors.
If you can control the light in the room, a professional projector can give you a large image without needing a permanent LED wall. This can make sense for pubs, hotels, sports bars, event spaces and hospitality venues that want a flexible setup for football, boxing, rugby, corporate events and private hire.
The used market also makes this more realistic. Professional projectors from brands such as Christie, Panasonic, Barco and Epson can offer serious performance without the same investment as buying new.

When led is the better option
LED screens come into their own when the environment is brighter, larger or more demanding.
Outdoor fan zones, beer gardens, high-footfall hospitality areas and temporary event spaces often need something that can hold up against daylight and still look strong from a distance.
That is where LED can make a real difference. It is not just about showing the match. It can turn a space into more of an event, especially when the crowd, sound and atmosphere are all working together.
For venues expecting repeat use beyond the World Cup, LED can become part of a longer-term event setup rather than a one-off football purchase.
Think beyond one tournament
The World Cup might be the reason you are looking now, but it should not be the only reason you buy.
Once the tournament is over, there is still Premier League football, rugby, boxing, Formula 1, tennis, private events, corporate screenings and venue hire.
This is where ownership starts to make more sense. If you are going to use the equipment again and again, buying used can often be more cost-effective than hiring every time something big comes around.
Don’t forget audio
A big screen with poor sound is still a poor experience.
If people cannot hear the commentary, the build-up, the crowd noise or the important moments, the whole thing falls a bit flat. This is especially true in busy venues where people are talking, ordering drinks and moving around.
A proper screen setup should include the sound system as part of the plan, not as an afterthought. You can browse our used audio equipment if you are building a more complete venue setup.
Lighting still matters
Lighting is not always the first thing venues think about for football screenings, but it can change the feel of the room completely.
You do not need to turn your pub into a nightclub. But good ambient lighting, colour, control and subtle effects can make the space feel more considered. It helps create atmosphere before kick-off, at half-time and after the match.

Hire or buy?
Hiring makes sense if you only need equipment for one event.
Buying starts to make sense when you know the setup will be used repeatedly. That might be across the full tournament, across the summer, or across future sporting events and private bookings.
Used equipment sits in the middle nicely. You get access to professional kit without paying new retail prices, and you may still have resale value later if your plans change.
If you are not sure whether buying makes sense, contact us and we can talk through the options without making it unnecessarily complicated.
What should your venue choose?
Choose a projector if you have a controlled indoor space, want a large image, and need a flexible setup without committing to LED.
Choose LED if you are dealing with bright spaces, outdoor areas, larger crowds or want the screen to become part of the attraction.
Choose properly specified audio if you want people to actually enjoy the match rather than just stare at a screen in silence.
And choose used professional equipment if you want the setup to work beyond one tournament.
