What is the Soundcraft Si Series and which models does the range include?
The Soundcraft Si Series is a family of digital mixing consoles spanning compact, cost-effective setups through to large-format live production desks. Who makes the Soundcraft Si Series and how does it fit within the brand?
Soundcraft is a British professional audio brand founded in 1973, known for analogue and digital mixing consoles for live sound, broadcast and installation. Since 1988 it has been part of Harman International. The Si Series sits as a broad mid-to-large digital console family within that portfolio, covering everything from compact venue use to demanding live production.
What are the main differences between the Si1, Si2 and Si3 consoles?
The primary difference is input count. The Si1 offers 32 mono inputs, the Si2 offers 48 and the Si3 offers 64, each also providing 4 stereo inputs. All three share 24 bus outputs, 8 matrix outputs, 12 VCAs, 8 mute groups, 4-band fully parametric EQ with high and low cut filters, on-board dynamics and four independent Lexicon processors.
What extra features do the Si Performer models add over the rest of the Si Series?
The Si Performer models include built-in automated lighting controllers, up to 80 channels to mix, Soundcraft FaderGlow, colour backlit LCD screens per fader, GEQ on every bus, 20 sub-group and aux busses, 8 matrix busses and two ViSi Connect option card slots supporting up to 128 x 96 input and output paths. These features are not present across the Si1, Si2, Si3 or Si Compact lines.
What should I check when buying a used Soundcraft Si Series console?
Confirm which specific model you are buying, as input count, bus count and feature sets vary significantly across the range. Check whether any ViSi Connect option cards are installed on Performer units, and verify fader and LCD screen condition.
